**Bert Roach (1891-1971)** was a prolific American character actor whose career spanned the silent film era and the early decades of sound cinema. Appearing in over 300 films, he is primarily remembered for his comedic supporting roles.

His acting style often saw him portray nervous, clumsy, shy, or naive characters, making him a recognizable and beloved presence. He was a frequent and trusted collaborator of Laurel and Hardy, appearing in many of their famous short films and feature films.

Among his most important films are The Broadway Melody (1929), one of the first successful sound musicals, The Devil's Brother (1933), Our Relations (1936), and Block-Heads (1938), all featuring the famous comedic duo.
