**Boris Bassiak** (1939-1999) was a French actor, noted for his participation in dramatic and crime films, often directed by the master Jean-Pierre Melville.

His most iconic and memorable role was that of Jean-François Jardie in *L'Armée des ombres* (1969), where he embodied with intense discretion the tragic loyalty and silent heroism of the French Resistance members, leaving an indelible mark. In addition to this crucial performance, Bassiak worked with acclaimed directors, also appearing in Luis Buñuel's *Le Journal d'une femme de chambre* (1964).

His acting style was characterized by a sobriety and depth that made him perfect for introverted, thoughtful characters or those burdened by an ineluctable fate. Bassiak was able to convey great emotional intensity with measured means, becoming a distinctive face of French cinema in the 1960s and 1970s.
