**Bruno Kirby** (New York, April 28, 1949 – Los Angeles, August 14, 2006) was an American actor, an acclaimed character actor. Known for his ability to portray dynamic, often nervous, sarcastic, or energetic characters, he left a distinctive mark in cinema with memorable roles.

Among his most celebrated works are that of Lieutenant Steven Hauk in the moving *Good Morning, Vietnam* (1987) and, above all, the role of Jess, the protagonist's friend, in the romantic comedy *When Harry Met Sally...* (1989), which made him widely recognizable.

He also held supporting roles in *City Slickers* (1991) and played a young version of Peter Clemenza in *The Godfather Part II* (1974), demonstrating his versatility from the outset. Kirby remained a familiar face to audiences, a character actor whose presence enriched every scene.
