Bud Cort (born Robert Edward Wilson on March 29, 1948) is an American actor known for his peculiar and often melancholic performances. His film career is inextricably linked to roles of eccentric and misfit characters.

His most iconic role is that of Harold Chasen in Hal Ashby's classic *Harold and Maude* (1971). Here, he portrayed a young man obsessed with death who finds love with an elderly woman, defining his unique and nonconformist style. Prior to this, he had already appeared in another Ashby film, *Brewster McCloud* (1970), playing a boy who dreams of flying, and in Robert Altman's *MASH* (1970).

Cort specialized in introspective characters, often alienated or searching for meaning, becoming an icon of 1970s independent and cult cinema.
