Christian Marquand
Christian Marquand (1927-1999) was a French actor, an iconic face of European and international cinema, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s. Renowned for his roles as a charming, tormented, or rebellious young man, he achieved fame with Roger Vadim's *And God Created Woman* (1956), starring alongside Brigitte Bardot as Antoine, the elder brother.
Perhaps his most memorable role is that of Philippe Greenleaf in René Clément's *Plein soleil* (1960), where he is the victim of Tom Ripley (Alain Delon), delivering an intense performance. Other notable films include *L'orchidea nera* (*The Black Orchid*, 1958) with Sophia Loren and several American productions. Marquand often embodied characters with ambiguous charm and a strong screen presence.
