Ciccio Ingrassia

**Ciccio Ingrassia** (Palermo, 1923 – Rome, 1996) was an Italian actor, director, and screenwriter, best known for his artistic partnership with Franco Franchi.

Together with Franchi, he formed one of the most prolific comedic duos in Italian cinema, starring in hundreds of films between the 1960s and 1980s. In their films, often parodies or popular comedies, Ingrassia played the role of the more controlled, melancholic, or intellectual 'straight man', contrasting with Franchi's exuberance, yet capable of surreal comedy and physical gags.

His versatility also emerged in dramatic or art-house roles, such as in Federico Fellini's celebrated *Amarcord* (1973), where he played Teo, the interned uncle, and in the Taviani brothers' *Kaos* (1984). He also directed several films, including *Il lungo, il corto, il gatto* (1967). Ingrassia is remembered as an iconic face of *commedia all'italiana* (Italian-style comedy), loved for his subtle humor and his ability to touch melancholic notes.
