**Claire Maurier** (born in Pont-Audemer in 1929) is a French actress known for her long and versatile film career.
She achieved international fame with François Truffaut's *Les Quatre Cents Coups* (1959), in which she played Gilberte, the complex and at times distant mother of young Antoine Doinel. This role underscored her ability to tackle modern and nuanced female characters.
Over the years, Maurier distinguished herself through her naturalness and her ability to transition from dramatic roles, such as in *Un singe en hiver* (1962), to comedic ones.
