Claire Trevor

Claire Trevor (1910-2000) was an American actress, celebrated for her roles as 'tough women' and 'molls' in classic Hollywood cinema. Active since the 1930s, she established herself as an icon of complex and often vulnerable characters.

She excelled in roles as cynical, disillusioned women or those with a difficult past, often alongside gangsters or tormented heroes. Among her most famous films are classics such as *Dead End* (1937), which earned her her first Oscar nomination, and *Stagecoach* (1939), where she starred alongside John Wayne.

She was nominated again for *Key Largo* (1948), finally winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for *The High and the Mighty* (1954). Her ability to infuse humanity into seemingly rigid roles made her a memorable figure in American cinema.
