**Cliff Edwards** (1895-1971), also known as "Ukulele Ike," was an American actor and singer with a long and varied film career, particularly distinguished in voice acting.

He is universally remembered for providing the voice and singing for **Jiminy Cricket** in the classic Disney film *Pinocchio* (1940), performing iconic songs such as "When You Wish Upon a Star." He reprised the role in other Disney productions, including *Fun and Fancy Free* (1947).

He was one of the first artists to benefit from the advent of sound film, appearing in numerous "talkies" from the 1920s onwards. In his live-action appearances, he often played genial, musical, or slightly comedic sidekick roles. His characteristic, friendly, and somewhat nasal vocal timbre made him ideal for empathetic and musical characters, defining his distinctive style on the big screen.
