**Danielle Darrieux (1917-2017)** was a legendary French actress, with a film career spanning over eight decades. Discovered at a very young age, she debuted in 1931, quickly establishing herself through her charm and talent. Among her early successes were Billy Wilder's *Mauvaise Graine* (1934) and *Mayerling* (1936).

Becoming an icon of elegance, she excelled in dramatic and romantic roles. Her performances in Max Ophüls' masterpieces, *La Ronde* (1950) and *Madame de...* (1953), where she embodied complex, sophisticated, and often melancholic women, are memorable. She also worked briefly in Hollywood. Her extensive filmography includes musicals such as *Les Demoiselles de Rochefort* (1967) and mature roles like in *8 Women* (2002).

Darrieux is remembered for her innate grace and her ability to bring depth to characters of rare sophistication.
