**Danny Lloyd** (born in 1972) is a former child actor, best known for his role as Danny Torrance in *The Shining* (1980), the horror masterpiece directed by Stanley Kubrick. His performance became iconic, unsettlingly and effectively portraying the complexity of the psychic child ("the shining") in a haunted hotel.

Despite his very young age, Lloyd managed to imbue the character with an innocence veiled by the perception of terrifying events, making him one of the most memorable children in the history of horror cinema. His film career was extremely brief; besides *The Shining*, he had only one other appearance in the TV movie *Will: G. Gordon Liddy* (1982). Lloyd chose not to pursue an acting career after childhood, later dedicating himself to the profession of a teacher.
