Dean Jagger (1903-1991) was an American actor known for his prolific film career as a character actor.
He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Major Harvey Stovall in *Twelve O'Clock High* (1949), a memorable performance of dignity and resilience. Among his other notable films are the musical comedy *White Christmas* (1954), where he played Bing Crosby's partner, the Western drama *Bad Day at Black Rock* (1955), and the biblical epic *The Robe* (1953).
