Dominique Minot

Dominique Minot is a French actress best known for her close collaboration with director Jean-Pierre Melville. Her film career began with a memorable role in Melville's masterpiece *Le Silence de la mer* (1949), immediately establishing her distinctive style.

She went on to cement her fame by starring in other iconic works by the director, including *Bob le flambeur* (1956), *Le Doulos* (1962), and *L'Armée des ombres* (1969), where she often played strong, enigmatic, and deeply complex women. Outside of Melville's films, she is particularly remembered for her performance in Louis Malle's *Ascenseur pour l'échafaud* (1958).

Her acting style was characterized by a discreet but intensely emotional presence, capable of conveying psychological complexity with minimalism, making her ideal for the stoic and often tragic roles of post-war French noir and drama.
