Don Gordon
**Don Gordon** (1926-2017) was an American character actor, known for his intense screen presence and his 'tough guy' roles or loyal but gruff figures.
He established a notable on-screen chemistry with Steve McQueen, alongside whom he starred on several occasions. His most memorable film roles include Agent Delgetti, Bullitt's trusted colleague in the iconic *Bullitt* (1968), and Dalton, Papillon's escape companion in *Papillon* (1973). He also appeared in *The Mackintosh Man* (1973), again with McQueen.
Gordon distinguished himself by portraying characters who were often loyal but rough, authority figures, policemen, or street criminals. His style was characterized by an understated intensity and solid dependability, making him an immediately recognizable and appreciated face in 1960s and 1970s American cinema.
