**Dorothy Malone** (Chicago, 1924 – Dallas, 2018) was an American actress known for her long film career. She began in the 1940s, often in "good girl" or ingenue roles, also appearing in the classic *The Big Sleep* (1946).

The turning point came with Douglas Sirk's *Written on the Wind* (1956), for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This role transformed her into a platinum blonde with a more sophisticated and tormented image. From that moment on, she often portrayed complex, rebellious, or fragile women.

Among her other important films were *Man of a Thousand Faces* (1957) and *Too Much, Too Soon* (1958). Malone was appreciated for her ability to infuse depth and vulnerability into her characters, making her a versatile figure in Hollywood cinema.
