**Douglas Fairbanks Sr.** (1883-1939) was an American actor, screenwriter, and film producer, an undisputed icon of silent cinema and among the first true Hollywood superstars.
He became famous for his roles as an adventurous hero and swordsman, embodying charismatic, agile, and optimistic characters. His extraordinary athleticism and spectacular stunts were his trademark, making him the audience's idol.
Among his most iconic films are *The Mark of Zorro* (1920), which established him as an action hero, *Robin Hood* (1922), and *The Thief of Bagdad* (1924), masterpieces that highlighted his dynamic and adventurous style.
