Dwight Frye
**Dwight Frye (1899-1943)** was an American actor primarily known for his iconic roles in classic horror films of the 1930s. Specializing in portraying hysterical, mad, or subservient characters, often with maniacal laughter and intense stares, Frye became the face of cinematic madness.
His most memorable role was that of **Renfield**, Dracula's obsessive and insane patient in the classic *Dracula* (1931) starring Bela Lugosi. In the same year, he played **Fritz**, Dr. Frankenstein's sadistic hunchbacked assistant in *Frankenstein* (1931). He also appeared as **Karl** in *Bride of Frankenstein* (1935) and in numerous other horror films such as *The Vampire Bat* (1933) and *The Invisible Man* (1933).
His ability to portray mental fragility and wickedness made him an unforgettable face, although it often confined him to similar roles, cementing his status as a genre icon.
