Eddie Albert
Eddie Albert (1906-2005) was an American actor with a long and versatile career, although he is best known to the general public primarily for his film and television work.
He achieved international recognition with **Vacanze romane** (Roman Holiday, 1953), playing the photographer Irving Radovich, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. His versatility was evident in his two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor: the first for **Il rompicuori** (The Heartbreak Kid, 1972), where he excelled in the role of a cynical father, and the second for **Quella sporca ultima meta** (The Longest Yard, 1974), as a corrupt prison warden.
Albert often distinguished himself in roles of ordinary, honest, and amiable men, but he was equally adept at bringing complexity and nuance to darker or more authoritarian characters. His ability to transition from comedy to drama made him a reliable and respected presence in Hollywood. Although famous for the TV series "Green Acres," his contribution to cinema remains significant.
