Einar Axelsson

**Einar Axelsson (1903-1965)** was a Swedish actor with a significant film career, active primarily between the 1930s and 1950s.

He was known for his ability to portray complex and often ambiguous characters. He was frequently cast in roles such as sophisticated antagonists, cynical businessmen, decadent aristocrats, or tormented figures, possessing a cold and sometimes melancholic elegance.

Among his most celebrated performances were those in *En kvinnas ansikte* (A Woman's Face, 1938), alongside Ingrid Bergman, and the role of the cynical teacher in *Hets* (Frenzy, 1944), a film directed by Alf Sjöberg with a screenplay by Ingmar Bergman. He also appeared in *Två människor* (Two People, 1945) and *Medan porten var stängd* (While the Gate Was Closed, 1946). His screen presence was distinctive, helping to define male archetypes in Nordic cinema of the period.
