Eleanor Boardman (1900-1991) was an American actress, one of the most acclaimed stars of the silent film era. She began her career in the early 1920s, quickly establishing herself due to her beauty and versatility.

She is best known for her role as Mary Sims in King Vidor's masterpiece, *The Crowd* (1928), where she displayed remarkable interpretive depth in portraying an ordinary woman grappling with life's difficulties, showing an unexpected realism for the era.

Other notable films include *Proud Flesh* (1925), *The Circle* (1925), and *Tell It to the Marines* (1926) alongside Lon Chaney. She often played roles as romantic, sophisticated women or vulnerable and suffering heroines, but she was capable of great naturalness. Her career slowed with the advent of sound film, and she retired in the 1930s.
