Enzo Staiola
Enzo Staiola (born in Rome in 1939) is an Italian actor known primarily for his iconic role as Bruno Ricci in Vittorio De Sica's neorealist masterpiece, *Bicycle Thieves* (1948).
His performance, characterized by a poignant naturalness and spontaneity, was fundamental to the film's success and emotional impact. Staiola authentically embodied the hope and disillusionment of childhood in post-war Italy, distinguishing himself as a "non-actor" capable of conveying profound emotions without artifice.
Although he participated in a few other subsequent films, including *Vulcano* (1950) and *Processo alla città* (1952), his cinematographic career remained inextricably linked to that unforgettable performance, making him a symbol of neorealist cinema.
