Fay Wray
**Fay Wray** (1907-2004) was a Canadian-American actress, best known for her iconic role as Ann Darrow in *King Kong* (1933).
She began her career in silent films, with notable roles including in Erich von Stroheim's *The Wedding March* (1928). She successfully transitioned to sound films, becoming a familiar face in the horror and thriller genres thanks to her ability to convey terror and vulnerability. Her "screams" in *King Kong* became legendary, cementing her image as a "scream queen."
She often played women in peril or "damsels in distress," an archetype she perfectly embodied. Her most notable films also include *The Most Dangerous Game* (1932), *Doctor X* (1932), and *Mystery of the Wax Museum* (1933), all pre-Code successes in which she starred. Her career slowed down in later years, with sporadic TV appearances, but her face and her screams in *King Kong* remain indelible in cinema history.
