Felix Bressart

Felix Bressart (1892-1949) was a German actor who emerged in Hollywood as a prominent character actor. He began his career in Germany, but fled the Nazi regime in the 1930s, settling in the United States.

In Hollywood, he became known for his ability to portray kind, often wise, slightly shy, or philosophical characters, enriched by a subtle humor. He was a frequent collaborator of director Ernst Lubitsch, appearing in some of his most iconic films.

Among his most memorable performances are the waiter Pirovitch in *The Shop Around the Corner* (1940), Commissioner Kopalski in *Ninotchka* (1939), and the Jewish actor Greenberg in *To Be or Not to Be* (1942). He also appeared in *Edison, the Man* (1940). His discreet yet incisive presence left a distinctive mark on Hollywood's Golden Age.
