
Frank Finlay
Frank Finlay (1926 – 2016) was a British actor, known for his versatile film and theatre career.
He earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his intense portrayal of Iago in the film adaptation of *Othello* (1965) alongside Laurence Olivier. Finlay excelled across a wide range of genres, from social dramas like *Saturday Night and Sunday Morning* (1960) and the controversial *Straw Dogs* (1971), to costume roles. He is perhaps best remembered by the general public for his charismatic portrayal of Porthos in *The Three Musketeers* (1973) and *The Four Musketeers* (1974).
His screen presence was often characterized by intensity and an ability to portray complex characters: from authoritative and sometimes ambiguous figures to ordinary men, demonstrating remarkable versatility and acting depth.
