Frank Lovejoy (1912-1962) was an American actor known for his prolific film career, primarily in the 1940s and 1950s. He was notable for his forthright presence and his portrayals of ordinary men, often tense and principled, in crisis situations.

He was a recurring figure in film noir and war dramas, frequently portraying policemen, soldiers, or journalists with a realistic and restrained acting style. Among his most memorable performances are Ida Lupino's thriller *The Hitch-Hiker* (1953), where he portrays the victim of a serial killer, and the war drama *Breakthrough* (1950). Lovejoy also had a significant role in *House of Wax* (1953). His ability to bring authenticity and controlled intensity made him a respected character actor, capable of handling co-starring roles.
