**Fred Clark (1908-1968)** was an American character actor, known for his square face and deep voice. He specialized in roles as authoritative figures, often portraying gruff bosses, business executives, military personnel, or cynical editors.

His film career saw him appear in numerous Hollywood films during the 1940s and 1950s. Among his most memorable performances were those in *Sunset Boulevard* (1950) as Sheldrake, the editor of William Holden's character, *A Place in the Sun* (1951), *How to Marry a Millionaire* (1953), and *The Solid Gold Cadillac* (1956).

His style stood out in portraying disagreeable but effective characters, often with a comedic streak, making him a recognizable and reliable presence in the cinema of the era.
