**Fredric March (1897-1975)** was an American actor, among the most esteemed figures of classic Hollywood cinema. A two-time Academy Award winner for Best Actor, he is remembered for his remarkable versatility and ability to embody complex and multifaceted roles.

His first Oscar came with *Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde* (1931), where he delivered a dual and terrifying performance. He earned his second for *The Best Years of Our Lives* (1946), a film in which he portrayed the struggles of post-war veterans with profound pathos.

Among his other most celebrated performances are those in *A Star Is Born* (1937), *Death of a Salesman* (1951), and *Seven Days in May* (1964). March excelled at portraying characters ranging from the tragic hero to the common man grappling with moral dilemmas, always with great intensity and acting intelligence.
