Friedrich Feher
**Friedrich Feher (1889-1964)** was an Austrian actor and director, a prominent figure in German silent cinema and Expressionism. He is universally known for his iconic role as Francis in the masterpiece *The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari* (Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, 1920). His performance, characterized by a striking physicality and intense expressiveness, helped define the film's hallucinatory atmosphere.
Feher excelled at portraying complex and often tormented characters: intellectuals, victims of circumstance, or morally ambiguous figures. His highly dramatic acting style was perfectly suited to the narrative demands of silent cinema. Beyond his prolificacy as an actor, Feher also dedicated himself to directing, helming several films, including *The Other* (Der Andere, 1930), demonstrating his versatility within the European cinematic landscape.
