Gastone Moschin
**Gastone Moschin (1929-2017)** was an Italian actor of great talent and versatility, whose film career made him an iconic face.
He is best known for the unforgettable role of **Count Rambaldo Melandri** in Mario Monicelli's *Amici Miei* trilogy (1975, 1982, 1985), which cemented his fame with the general public as the dreamy intellectual unlucky in love. Internationally, he is remembered for his intense portrayal of **Don Fanucci** in Francis Ford Coppola's *The Godfather: Part II* (1974). Another significant role was that of Manganiello in Bernardo Bertolucci's *The Conformist* (1970).
Endowed with powerful expressiveness and chameleon-like talent, he often portrayed complex characters: from the intellectual to the mafia boss, from the ambiguous official to the man of law, often in authoritative or ambiguous roles. He was also a recurring face in the *poliziottesco* genre. His ability to give depth and nuance to his characters made him one of the most esteemed Italian character actors.
