Georgia Hale

**Georgia Hale (1905-1985)** was an American actress primarily active during the silent film era.

She is best remembered for her role as the girl, Georgia, alongside Charlie Chaplin in his masterpiece *The Gold Rush* (1925), where she was personally chosen by the director for her natural charm and ability to convey vulnerability. Previously, she had also appeared in King Vidor's *The Salvation Hunters* (1925), considered the first American independent film.

Hale often portrayed simple, kind, and resilient women, with an innocence that made her ideal for pure romantic interest roles. Her film career was relatively brief, as she did not successfully transition with the advent of sound.
