**Gibson Gowland (1877–1951)** was an American film actor. He is universally remembered for his intense portrayal of the dentist McTeague in Erich von Stroheim's silent masterpiece, *Rapacità* (Greed, 1924).

The role, which saw him descend into madness and violence, clearly highlighted his ability to embody rough, tormented characters with a strong physical presence. His expressiveness, often associated with crude or menacing figures, made him a distinctive face of the period.
