Gogi Gegechkori

**Gogi Gegechkori** (1932–2003) was a Georgian actor whose film career left a distinctive mark on Soviet and Georgian cinema.

Known for his prolific collaboration with director Eldar Shengelaia, Gegechkori shone in iconic films. Among his most memorable roles are Bakhva in *Samkauli chemi sayvarlisa* (The Necklace for My Beloved, 1971), a satire on hypocrisy, and above all the title role in *Tsisperi mtebi anu daujerebeli ambavi* (Blue Mountains, or Unbelievable Story, 1983), a masterpiece of social criticism.

Gegechkori excelled at portraying intellectual characters, often sardonic or detached, who navigate the absurdity of bureaucracy or the challenges of everyday life with subtle humor and measured acting. His style was characterized by deep irony and an ability to convey complex psychological nuances through minimal gestures and expressions.
