**Greta Garbo** (Stockholm, 1905 – New York, 1990) was a Swedish actress and one of the greatest icons of classic Hollywood cinema, nicknamed "The Divine".

Renowned for her enigmatic beauty and melancholic aura, she often portrayed sophisticated and tragic heroines. Her career began in silent films, but she established herself with the transition to sound in *Anna Christie* (1930), launched with the slogan "Garbo talks!".

Among her most famous films are *Grand Hotel* (1932), *Queen Christina* (1933), *Anna Karenina* (1935), *Camille* (1936), and the comedy *Ninotchka* (1939), where she uttered the famous "Garbo laughs!". She suddenly retired from the screen in 1941, maintaining her status as a mysterious legend until her death.
