Guido Alberti
Guido Alberti (1909-1996) was an Italian actor renowned for his imposing presence and his roles as authoritative figures. Born into a noble family, he came to cinema in his mature years after a career as an intellectual and poet.
His filmography is studded with collaborations with great directors. He is especially remembered for the iconic role of the cardinal in Federico Fellini's *8½* (1963). Other memorable performances include Don Calogero Sedàra in Luchino Visconti's *The Leopard* (1963) and Herod in Pier Paolo Pasolini's *The Gospel According to St. Matthew* (1964).
