Helen Lynch

**Helen Lynch** (1898-1969) was an American actress primarily active in the silent film era. Known for her roles as an energetic and lively girl, she often portrayed "flapper" characters or young working-class women.

She gained popularity in light comedies and romantic dramas, appearing in films such as *Sally in Our Alley* (1927) and the comedic series *The Cohens and Kellys* (from 1926). However, her most iconic and acclaimed role was that of Mary Sims in King Vidor's *The Crowd* (1928). Here, she demonstrated remarkable dramatic depth, moving away from her lighter roles and delivering an intense and realistic performance. Her career declined with the advent of sound film, and she retired from acting in the early 1930s.
