Hiroshi Tachikawa

**Hiroshi Tachikawa** (1927-1997) was a Japanese actor who was mainly active during the golden age of Nikkatsu, between the 1950s and 1960s. Known for his distinctive face and charismatic presence, he specialized in supporting but memorable roles.

He often played complex characters, antiheroes, gangsters, or ambiguous figures in Nikkatsu's action and noir films. His acting was characterized by a subtle intensity, capable of rendering psychological nuances even in supporting roles.

Among his best-known works are key films of the era, such as Toshio Masuda's *Rusty Knife* (1958), in which he has a memorable role, and Seijun Suzuki's *Take Aim at the Police Van* (1960). Although often overshadowed by the leading actors, his career was fundamental in defining the aesthetic and atmosphere of many Nikkatsu classics.
