Jack Benny

Jack Benny was an American comedian and actor, primarily known for his work in radio and television. Although less central, his film career saw him star in several movies from the 1930s to the 1960s.

His most memorable and acclaimed film role is undoubtedly that of the vain theatrical actor Josef Tura in Ernst Lubitsch's satirical comedy, *To Be or Not to Be* (1942). He also appeared in comedies such as *George Washington Slept Here* (1942) and the fantasy film *The Horn Blows at Midnight* (1945).

Benny often played variations of his radio persona: an egocentric and slightly avaricious comedian, with impeccable comedic timing and a masterful use of pauses. Although cinema was not his primary medium, Benny brought his subtle humor to the big screen.
