Jack May

Jack May (1922 – 1997) was a British actor, known for his deep voice and imposing stage presence. His film career predominantly saw him portray authoritative and dignified figures, often establishment men such as officials, aristocrats, or professionals, imbuing them with an air of austere respectability or, at times, subtle pomposity.

Among his most significant film roles were Dr. Willis in **"The Madness of King George"** (1994), a physician who treats the monarch suffering from dementia. He also played the Duke in **"The Remains of the Day"** (1993) and the Inspector in the adaptation of **"The Seven-Per-Cent Solution"** (1976). Although also renowned for his radio work, particularly as Nelson Gabriel in *The Archers*, May left a distinctive mark on British cinema thanks to his ability to embody substantial characters with authority and precision.
