Jacques B. Brunius (1902-1967) was a French actor, director, and writer, primarily remembered for his prolific acting career in film. Often characterized by a distinguished physique and an intelligent gaze, Brunius specialized in portraying eccentric, enigmatic, or cultured intellectuals.
His career gained momentum in France before World War II, working with Jean Renoir on *Partie de campagne* (1936), where he played the lead role of Henri. After relocating to the United Kingdom, he continued to appear in numerous British and international productions. Among his most notable roles are those in Jean-Pierre Melville's classic *Les Enfants Terribles* (1950) and his memorable cameo in *The Ladykillers* (1955), where his discreet yet incisive presence left its mark.
