Jean Hagen
Jean Hagen (1923-1977) was an American actress, known for her versatility and distinctive roles in classic Hollywood cinema.
She gained recognition for her performances in dramatic films such as John Huston's *The Asphalt Jungle* (1950) and in sparkling comedies like *Adam's Rib* (1949).
Her most iconic role is undoubtedly that of the vain and shrill silent film star Lina Lamont in *Singin' in the Rain* (1952). This performance, which blended comedy and pathos, earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Hagen excelled at portraying female characters who were often charming but neurotic, or comical and slightly clumsy, demonstrating remarkable talent for comedy, as well as dramatic ability. Her film career, though not very long, was remembered for her memorable screen presence.
