Jean Keraudy
Jean Keraudy (1928-2001) was a French actor, best known for his unique and authentic screen presence. His most famous role was that of Roland Darban in Jacques Becker's *Le Trou* (The Hole) (1960).
This critically acclaimed prison film is based on a true story of escape, in which Keraudy himself had participated in his youth. In the film, Keraudy played a character directly inspired by his real-life experience, lending the film an unprecedented authenticity and raw realism.
His acting style was characterized by an unprofessional naturalness, reflecting his lived experience rather than classical acting training. He often played marginal, tough but deeply human characters who drew on his past as an ex-convict. Although he appeared in few other films, his performance in *Le Trou* remains a benchmark for realistic cinema and the use of non-professional actors in key roles.
