Jin Shuyuan (金淑媛) was an influential Chinese actress, a prominent figure in the silent film era and the early years of sound cinema in the country. Her career, which flourished in the 1920s and 1930s, is inextricably linked to the Lianhua Film Company.

She gained fame for her intense portrayals of women often marked by fate, vulnerable yet resilient, or 'fallen,' making her an icon of social drama. Among her most celebrated roles are those in Chinese silent film masterpieces such as *Love and Duty* (戀愛與義務, 1931), *Wild Rose* (野玫瑰, 1932), and, notably, *The Goddess* (神女, 1934), where she portrayed a mother forced into prostitution.

Her style was characterized by deep emotional expressiveness, perfect for the silent era, which allowed her to convey complex inner dramas with a restrained yet powerful performance.
