John Huston

John Huston (1906-1987) was an actor and esteemed American director. Although renowned for his directorial career, he also made a distinctive mark as an actor, distinguishing himself with his unmistakable voice and imposing presence.

He frequently portrayed authoritative, elderly, and at times ambiguous or menacing figures. His most acclaimed performance was that of Cardinal Glennon in *The Cardinal* (1963), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Another memorable appearance was as the sinister magnate Noah Cross in Roman Polanski's *Chinatown* (1974), a role that cemented his status as one of cinema's most iconic "villains." He also appeared in films such as *The Wind and the Lion* (1975) and *Winter Kills* (1979). His acting style was characterized by a natural gravitas and a rugged charisma.
