
Kakhi Kavsadze
Kakhi Kavsadze (1935-2021) was a celebrated Georgian actor whose prolific film career made him an icon. He is internationally remembered primarily for his role in Sergei Paradjanov's masterpiece, *The Color of Pomegranates* (Sayat Nova, 1969), a seminal film in auteur cinema.
His extensive filmography also includes memorable performances in *The White Caravan* (Bia skharosani, 1964) and the popular musical comedy *Melodies of Vera Quarter* (Vera ubnis melodiebi, 1973).
Kavsadze was known for his charismatic presence and his ability to embody a wide range of characters: often historical figures, wise elders, or men of strong moral integrity. His acting style was characterized by a measured yet incisive performance, capable of conveying emotional depth and great dignity with few, yet effective, gestures and glances.
