Kanu Banerjee (1905-1983) was an Indian actor, an emblematic figure of Bengali cinema. He is universally recognized for his role as Harihar Roy, the father of the protagonist Apu, in Satyajit Ray's celebrated Apu Trilogy.

This includes masterpieces such as *Pather Panchali* (1955) and *Aparajito* (1956). Banerjee excelled at portraying honest male characters, often grappling with financial hardship but endowed with great dignity and spirit.
