King Donovan

King Donovan (1918-1987) was a prolific American character actor, renowned for his versatility and ability to portray a wide range of characters, often in supporting yet memorable roles.

His film career saw him featured in numerous science fiction, film noir, and dramatic films. Among his most celebrated performances were that of the scientist in the opening scenes of *The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms* (1953) and the iconic role of Dr. Kaufman in *Invasion of the Body Snatchers* (1956), where his ambiguity contributed to the unsettling atmosphere.

He also excelled in classic noirs such as *Kiss Me Deadly* (1955) and dramas like *The Defiant Ones* (1958). Donovan was known for his roles as the "everyman" or authority figures (doctors, policemen, military personnel), often with a touch of nervousness or cynicism.
