**Lee Grant** (born Lyova Haskell Rosenthal on October 31, 1925) is an American actress and director known for her versatility and intensity. Her career was initially hampered by the Hollywood blacklist in the 1950s.

After a triumphant return in the 1960s and 1970s, she established herself as an interpreter of complex female characters, often nervous, resilient, or vulnerable. She received four Academy Award nominations, winning one for Best Supporting Actress for the film **Shampoo** (1975), where she played the wealthy and dissatisfied Felicia Carp. Other memorable performances include those in **In the Heat of the Night** (1967), **The Landlord** (1970), and **Voyage of the Damned** (1976).
