Leslie Caron (Boulogne-Billancourt, 1931) is a French actress and dancer, a Hollywood cinema icon. Discovered by Gene Kelly, she made a masterful debut in the musical "An American in Paris" (1951), which catapulted her to worldwide fame. She cemented her career with further successes, notably "Lili" (1953) and "Gigi" (1958), the latter winning nine Academy Awards, which earned her Academy Award nominations for Best Actress (winning the Golden Globe for "Gigi").
Caron was distinguished by her innocent charm, ethereal grace, and balletic elegance, often portraying vulnerable but resilient ingénue characters with a distinctive French touch.
