**Lil Dagover (1887-1980)** was a German actress, a silent film icon, and a versatile performer in sound films. Her international fame was solidified with her role as Jane in the Expressionist masterpiece *Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari* (1920), where her ethereal and mysterious presence contributed to the film's dreamlike tone.
She frequently collaborated with prominent directors such as Fritz Lang (*Der müde Tod*, 1921; *Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler*, 1922) and F.W. Murnau (*Phantom*, 1922). She often embodied aristocratic, elegant, sometimes fragile or enigmatic characters, with an innate grace and an aura of mystery.
