**Marcel Journet** (1868-1933) was a French actor, primarily active during the silent film era. He is remembered for his intense performances in significant literary and dramatic adaptations of the early 20th century.

Among his most significant roles was that of the iconic Jean Valjean in the film *Les Misérables* (1913), one of the earliest and most ambitious adaptations of Victor Hugo's work. He also appeared in *La Tosca* (1909) as Scarpia and in *Germinal* (1913).

His style was characterized by an imposing screen presence and expressive acting, typical of the silent era, which allowed him to embody complex and authoritative characters, often with significant dramatic weight, making him a recognizable figure in the cinematic landscape of the time.
